SILK
To complement our knitwear, Six Ames offers a selection of elegant silk styles made from spun silk – a luxurious material crafted from short silk fibres. Spun silk has a slightly more textured surface than traditional silk, giving it a beautiful matte finish.
The manufacturing process involves several steps, from raw material preparation and fibre processing to spinning and post-spinning treatments - all carefully executed to preserve the quality and softness of the fibre. Like our luxurious knitwear, silk offers the same breathability, making it the perfect styling option to complete a Six Ames look.
Silk is smooth, soft, and naturally lustrous, with a delicate feel against the skin. Its lightweight, breathable fibers help regulate temperature, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. Highly absorbent, silk allows moisture to evaporate easily, while its fluid nature drapes beautifully on the body for a graceful, effortless silhouette.
Care
Silk garments are easy to care for at home. With mindful washing and gentle handling, the fabric will preserve its natural sheen and grace, staying with you for many years to come.
Hand wash silk garments in cold water with a fluid detergent made for silk/wool.
Do not place silk in the dryer or wring the fabric but keep in mind it can shrink up to 5% even when handled carefully instead lay it flat to dry on a towel, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
If necessary, gently iron silk garments inside out while still slightly damp, using a warm iron. Avoid direct contact by placing a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric.
Store silk garments on hangers in a cool, dry place, away from direct light.
